Mekat Films is a film production company based in Miri, Sarawak. We specialize in creating high-quality films, documentaries, and commercials for clients in Malaysia and beyond. Our team consists of experienced filmmakers, cinematographers, and editors who are passionate about storytelling and visual arts.
“Mekat” (Mee-kat) is inspired from the Kiput and Melanau language which means rise. It symbolises the rise of the creatives that work in Mekat Films that came from a background of indigenous tribes. To make a difference and change for the people.
Mekat Films has been established since January of 2021 but has been working as a collective effort with various artists and filmmakers in Miri, Sarawak since 2019. Mekat Films focuses on video and art production, doing work such as films, promotional videos, music videos, documentaries and community engagement.
